There may have been times in your lives where you were so confused, disappointed, anxious and feeling out of control that to find anything to hold on to to stop from drowning in emotion seemed almost impossible.
Have you ever been to that place in life? Wondering how to get through the day? So many of us have and it is not as though we have one such impossible circumstance to deal with, life often throws many at us along the way.
So where to start....or stop really, because stopping the spinning, the anxiety, fear, nausea and panic is the first step to taking back control of emotions that have grown so extreme, so completely dominant that they do not allow the mental body any space to step in and bring logic, practicality and calm to what is occurring.
Often when faced with adversity and stress, whether it be financial, or to do with a relationship, career or health, we step straight into emotion - into fear and react. We become rudderless and at the mercy of our emotions to a point where the pain can become so great, we simply wish for it to end. It does not have to get to this point because by forcing yourself to do a few simple things, you can start to steer yourself back to control and calmer waters.
It is possible. Even when you are telling yourself it is impossible, confirm to yourself that you have the capacity to take back control so that your mind starts to believe it for you and facilitate it subconsciously. It is a matter of finding a tiny amount of space in your mind to direct it to stop, breath, calm and think. So that you can find the way back to you and stand in strength not weakness.
You have a plan. You created this plan and this obstacle or issue in your life is there to teach you what you came to learn. Ask yourself what is it you are learning. Ask yourself why you are in the situation you are in and how you got there and then ask yourself what steps can you take to get you to the other side.
Listen to your answers and write them down.
By starting this process, you can step out of your emotion and back into being in control of how you react or respond to whatever is swirling around you.
Do take the first step. You are worth it.
